The white spots or transparency may just be the enamel wearing off. If it is taken care
of right away with pro-enamel toothpaste and mouthwash, the tooth will be restored to it’s normal appearance. On the other hand, the spots may be a sign of dental fluorosis which is a defect of the tooth enamel caused by too much fluoride intake under the age of eight. Drinking fluoridated tap water and swallowing fluoride toothpastes are common causes. The damage is permanent but can be cosmetically treated. Ask your dentist for tips on how to better protect your teeth.
