Teens In Charge is one of the few websites dedicated exclusively to the health issues of teens. The information provided is accurate, straightforward, and useful to you and your peers. We hope to empower you with health knowledge so you can be ready to take charge of your life!
This website is maintained by the Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC), a non-profit community center established in 1989. Since its inception, CCHRC has served the Chinese Community of the San Francisco Bay Area through numerous bilingual health programs, some of which were considered first in the nation. Over the years, CCHRC has come to be recognized by the community as a leader in health education

Check out these volunteer and internship opportunities! 1) Patient Navigator Assistant Intern Purpose: To provide assistance and services to the Chinese immigrant community offered by the Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC) and Chinese Hospital Duties and Responsibilities: · Register patients/individuals for health seminars and answer related inquiries. · Explain to patients/individuals the use of library resources and services of CCHRC. · Prepare required documents for registration of classes and library resources and services. · Assist in review and/or development of visual aids for various educational programs. · Assist in community outreach. · Perform other tasks as assigned. · Able to work minimum 16 hours per week. Qualifications: · Required language skills: read and speak fluent English and Cantonese. · Highly preferred language skill: speak fluent Mandarin. · Ability to write and type in Chinese is highly preferred. · Background in health and/or public health highly preferred. · Excellent customer services and phone skills. · Knowledge and use of computers and Microsoft Office Programs · Knowledge and use of Internet navigation. · Good coordination and organization skills. · Detail orientated.· Cultural sensitivity. · Resourceful. · Ability to work independently and as a team. 2) Internship for High School Junior/SeniorPurpose: To provide assistance in bilingual (Chinese and English) projects conducted by the Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC). To partake in projects in the areas of teen health, web and social marketing, electronic records and/or data entry for various studies and research. Duties and Responsibilities: - Converting physical files and records into electronic files. - Files and records management. - Data entry. - Prepare required reports. - Assist in community outreach. - Assist in coordinate, promote, implement and evaluate educational project. - Perform other tasks as assigned. - Convert video tapes into DVDs. - Complies with CHA Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statues, regulations and guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guideline and reporting suspected violations of any statue, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all health care programs Qualifications: · Good coordination and organization skills. · Good problem solving skills. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. · Detail orientated. · Cultural sensitivity. · Resourceful. · Ability to function within a multidisciplinary environment. · Ability to work independently and as a team. · High school Junior or Senior. · Knowledge and use of computer, including Internet navigation Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) language skills preferred. · Ability to write and type in Chinese is highly preferred. · Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, SNAP Survey, SPSS, SurveyMonkey software preferred.
