Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC) continuously seeks passionate volunteers and interns who want to give back to their communities.

1) CCHRC Volunteer or Internship

Purpose:To assist in bilingual (Chinese and English) projects conducted by the Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC), including but not limited to teen health, web and social marketing (i.e. website, Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, etc).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with CCHRC’s social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, etc) and outreach to teens, adults, and other community members.
  • Files and records management.
  • Data entry.
  • Assist in community outreach projects and campaigns.
  • Assist in coordinate, promote, implement and evaluate educational projects.
  • Convert video tapes into DVDs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Complies with Chinese Hospital Association Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statues, regulations and guidelines applicable to federal and state programs.  Responsibilities include, following the guideline and reporting suspected violations of any statue, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all health care programs.

Qualifications:

  • Good coordination and organization skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Resourceful.
  • Ability to function within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Knowledge and use of computer, including Internet navigation
  • Ability to speak, write and/or type in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is preferred, but not required.

Education Level: High School Junior or above
Recommended Hours/Week: minimum 5 – 10, but Flexible Scheduling
Length of Volunteer/Internship:  3 month minimum

 

2) Patient Navigator Assistant Volunteer/Intern

Purpose:  To provide assistance and services to the Chinese immigrant community offered by the Chinese Community Health Resource Center (CCHRC) and Chinese Hospital

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Register patients/individuals for health seminars and answer related inquiries.
  • Explain to patients/individuals the use of library resources and services of CCHRC.
  • Prepare required documents for registration of classes and library resources and services.
  • Assist in community outreach.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required language skills: read and speak fluent English and Cantonese.
  • Highly preferred language skill: speak fluent Mandarin.
  • Ability to write and type in Chinese is highly preferred.
  • Background in health and/or public health highly preferred.
  • Excellent customer services and phone skills.
  • Knowledge and use of computers and Microsoft Office Programs
  • Knowledge and use of Internet navigation.
  • Good coordination and organization skills.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

Education Level: High School Junior or above
Recommended Hours/Week: 5-10, but Flexible Scheduling
Length of Volunteer/Internship:  3 month minimum

 

3) Research Assistant/Community Educator

Purpose: To assist with research and educational programs offered by CCHRC
Job Type: Part time or Full time
Job Function: Healthcare/Social Services; Education; Science; Technology; Management; Marketing

 

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with:

  • Various areas of research, including but not limited to health policies, health and social behavior, and chronic disease and obesity
  • Literature review, project design, implementation, data collection, data management, report compilation, reference management, manuscript development.
  • Coordination of and participation in meetings as assigned
  • Development of meeting minutes, presentations, reports as assigned
  • Grant writing
  • Coordination, promotion, implementation and evaluation of programs
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques in association with: health policy analysis, research and health education program administration; planning, promoting, implementing and conducting health education and research program; group process; selecting and designing health educational materials.
  • Minimum of one year experience in adult and group teaching preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in research and grant writing preferred.
  • Excellent English command
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Good coordination and organization skills.
  • Creative in program and educational material design.
  • Preferred language skills: read and speak fluent Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Resourceful.
  • Knowledge and use of computer, including Internet navigation.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Health Education or related field.

Job Location: 728 Pacific Avenue, Suite 115, SF CA 94133
Hours and Days: 28-40 hours per week; 4-5 days per week
Pay Rate: Based on experience
College/Major: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Business, Education, Health & Human Services, and Science
